Laphroaig is well known for its very peaty and smoky style of single malts, and the Select will sit alongside the classic 10 years old, Quarter Cask, Triple Wood and 18 years old expressions. The whiskies used to create the Select have been selected by Laphroaig’s Master Distiller John Campbell and come from a number of different American and European oak cask types. However, the main difference in this release is the use of new American oak casks in the final maturation.

FRANGELICO LIQUER 1000ML
You saveProduced in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of early Christian monks living in the hills of the area. Their skills in fine food and drink would have included the art of distilling, especially the use of the wild hazelnuts and other local ingredients to create a liqueur on which Frangelico is based today. Its name is also part of the same local legend – an abbreviation of Fra. Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 17th century. The Frangelico bottle is an immediate reminder of this distinctive history. Shaped like a monk’s habit, with a traditional rope belt around its waist, it is a guarantee of authenticity and quality that links the past right through to the present day. Taste Frangelico and the whole story falls into place. Wonderful toasted wild hazelnuts, found only in the Italian north, combined with cocoa, vanilla berries and a host of other natural extracts that make up its complex flavour.

You saveFounded in 1730 in the site of an old mill from the 17th century, Fundador Wineries are the oldest in Jerez. Pedro Domecq Loustau is the person behind the founding of Fundador, which is home to one of the largest wineries in the world. Fundador Solera Reserva is crafted using Airén and Palomino grapes grown in the Jerez region. The brandy is then fermented in American oak barrels which were previously used for sherry. Fundador in Spanish means “founder”. This is an apt name for a brand who was the first to market itself as a Jerez brandy. The smooth, rich smell of brandy rises to meet the nose when you open a bottle of Fundador Solera Reserva. It smells a bit like fruitcake and dried apricots with a touch of spice and black pepper. In the mouth, it gives off the creamy taste of pudding, vanilla, oven-baked apples, and spices. After finishing, you are left with the taste of apricot and spices pleasantly lingering on the tongue. Try this brandy with cheese or chocolate as they will expertly play off of the spicy fruitiness.
