San-in has smooth and light taste characteristics. Maturation in the barrel has produced a faint scent of vanilla, western pear and other fruity notes on the nose with a pleasant aftertaste.

MATSUI TOTTORI BOURBON BARREL JAPANESE W...
You saveAged in a bourbon barrel. The tannins but with a Kentucky butt. Astonishingly and intriguingly, there is also a theme of every soft drink in the state other than Ale 8. Big, fat, and maxes out the chocolate and liquorice lead. The spices are lazy and instead make way for a buttery sub-plot. A very curious fade of sarsaparilla and root beer mix. The chocolate holds its ground. Well it certainly goes Kentucky, but for the finish not in the way you’d expect. That said, what a great entertainer this whisky is.

You saveTogouchi is a blended Japanese whisky from the producers Chugoku Jozo, who mature their whisky in a tunnel rather than a warehouse. The name comes from where the tunnel is located, in the town of Togouchi, which merged with two other towns to create a larger town called Akiota. This is their no-age-statement expression, the Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whisky.

You saveA variation of the wonderful Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, made with malt whiskies from the island of Islay. Plenty of classic Islay character runs through its core, and it’s still adorned with the picture of a sheep on the label, so all’s good here! The name Sheep Dip comes from the olden days when people in the West Country used to make their own whisky and hide it in barrels marked “SD” to avoid paying taxes on it.

You saveForemost among the distilleries along the banks of the chill, clear waters of the Spey stands Knockando. Built by John Thompson in 1898 the Knockando distillery lies in the village of the same name, derived from the Gaelic ‘Cnoc-an-dhu’ meaning ‘little black hill.’ On the nose, Knockando is light and nutty/malty with some green pear, straw, dry spices. Estery and crisp. On the palate it is equally light and nutty with a touch of milk chocolate in the mid-palate. Soft, easy and ultra-clean with a crisp, short and dry finish. Simple, attractive and easy-drinking.

NIKKA SESSION 700ML
You saveComing in a stunning matte blue bottle, with musically inspired art and the title “Session” adorned across the label, this world blended whisky was created from spirit produced at the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, masterfully blended together with whisky from Scotland’s hugely famous Ben Nevis distillery.
The provenance of the liquid is hard to argue with, hailing from what could be classed as three of the best distilleries in the world today. If we combine that with the fact that Nikka have been experts at creating delectable, complex and well-balanced blends for decades now, the Session ticks all the boxes.
As Nikka’s first world blended whisky, it’s fitting that it should be a marriage of spirit from Japan and Scotland, 100 years on from the marriage of Nikka founder Mastataka Taketsuru, and his beloved Scottish wife, Rita Cowan. It’s a beautiful nod to those that made it all possible, while showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and a thriving industry at the same time.
According to Nikka, we can expect fresh aromas of oranges and apples, combined with a sweetness and fragrance of malt and gentle vanillins on the nose. The palate will bring a smooth and creamy tongue feel, alongside a beautiful blend of light sweetness and the soft fruitiness of oak. The finish is said to be slightly bitter with slowly fading peat.

OLD PULTENEY 12YO 700ML
You saveEstablished in 1826 in Wick, Pulteney Distillery is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland and at that time was only accessible by sea. The barley was brought in by sea, the whisky shipped out by boat and many of the distillery workers were also employed as fishermen. Sadly the herring fishing industry is no longer part of daily life in Wick but Pulteney Distillery continues to operate, distilling one of the finest Highland malts available. During 12 years of maturation, Old Pulteney has taken time to absorb the sea breeze creating a distinct flavour and unique product.

VAT 69 WHISKY 1000ML
You saveVat 69 is a scotch blended whisky that is produced by William Sanderson & Son Limited of South Queensferry, West Lothian, Scotland. In 1882, William Sanderson prepared one hundred casks of blended whisky and hired a panel of experts to taste them. The batch from the cask (or “vat”) with number 69 was judged to be the best, and this provided the whisky’s brand name. The blend contains a complex mix of 40 different single malts and grain whiskies and the exact combination remains a closely guided secret. This has evolved over the years from Sanderson’s original blend that was built heavily around the two distilleries that he owned – Glen Garioch (pronounced glen-gear-ee) for its single malt and North British for its grain whisky content.
