Disaronno Originale unbeknownst to most is not actually amaretto which is why it has been removed from it’s label. It is amaretto flavored, with a characteristic bittersweet almond taste. Disaronno claims its “originale” amaretto’s “secret formula” is unchanged from the year 1525, and claims the Luini tale as its own particular history. Its production remains in Saronno, but the product is sold worldwide. The company describes its amaretto as an infusion of “apricot kernel oil” with “absolute alcohol, burnt sugar, and the pure essence of seventeen selected herbs and fruits”; the product does not contain any almonds or other nuts. The amber liqueur is presented in an oblong glass decanter designed by a craftsman from Murano. You saveFounded in 1730 in the site of an old mill from the 17th century, Fundador Wineries are the oldest in Jerez. Pedro Domecq Loustau is the person behind the founding of Fundador, which is home to one of the largest wineries in the world. Fundador Solera Reserva is crafted using Airén and Palomino grapes grown in the Jerez region. The brandy is then fermented in American oak barrels which were previously used for sherry. Fundador in Spanish means “founder”. This is an apt name for a brand who was the first to market itself as a Jerez brandy. The smooth, rich smell of brandy rises to meet the nose when you open a bottle of Fundador Solera Reserva. It smells a bit like fruitcake and dried apricots with a touch of spice and black pepper. In the mouth, it gives off the creamy taste of pudding, vanilla, oven-baked apples, and spices. After finishing, you are left with the taste of apricot and spices pleasantly lingering on the tongue. Try this brandy with cheese or chocolate as they will expertly play off of the spicy fruitiness.

Soft and peaty on the nose, full and smooth on the palate with a fine sherry background and sweetish spice on the finish. Distilled and aged in Co. Antrim this is a blend consisting of 75% malt and 25% grain whiskies, the high proportion of the flavoursome malt in the blend gives it weight and richness. The malt used is triple distilled and soft, being given extra smoothness by aging for 8 years in oak casks. The grain spirit used is smoothed by long barrel age, a portion of this being made with unmalted barley. The whiskey was diluted to 40% abv before bottling.

You saveSolan Number 1 Black Whisky is produced by Mohan Meakin Limited at the Kasauli Distillery which is found in the Himalayan Highlands at an elevation of over 6,000 feet. (The town of Kasauli in located in the Solan District, Himachal Pradesh, India.) The distillery was founded in the late 1820s by Edward Dyer who apparently chose this location because the climate in this area of India was quite similar to his native Scotland, (and because the British troops in the nearby Punjab had a taste for Scottish style whisky).
