The provenance of the liquid is hard to argue with, hailing from what could be classed as three of the best distilleries in the world today. If we combine that with the fact that Nikka have been experts at creating delectable, complex and well-balanced blends for decades now, the Session ticks all the boxes.
As Nikka’s first world blended whisky, it’s fitting that it should be a marriage of spirit from Japan and Scotland, 100 years on from the marriage of Nikka founder Mastataka Taketsuru, and his beloved Scottish wife, Rita Cowan. It’s a beautiful nod to those that made it all possible, while showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and a thriving industry at the same time.
According to Nikka, we can expect fresh aromas of oranges and apples, combined with a sweetness and fragrance of malt and gentle vanillins on the nose. The palate will bring a smooth and creamy tongue feel, alongside a beautiful blend of light sweetness and the soft fruitiness of oak. The finish is said to be slightly bitter with slowly fading peat.

This rum is distilled in pot stills on the Virgin Islands and fermented from naturally sweet mollasses made from sugar cane grown on nearby riverbanks. Natural yeasts are used to ferment the water-thinned mollasses, which is converted directly into alcohol. The rum is distilled to 97.5% alcohol and is then aged in oak barrels for between 12 and 24 months – before being blended with a range of spices including cinnamon, ginger and clove. Best served over ice, or as a component in any number of exotic cocktails.

DISARONNO ORIGINALE 50ML-20PK
You saveDisaronno Originale unbeknownst to most is not actually amaretto which is why it has been removed from it’s label. It is amaretto flavored, with a characteristic bittersweet almond taste. Disaronno claims its “originale” amaretto’s “secret formula” is unchanged from the year 1525, and claims the Luini tale as its own particular history. Its production remains in Saronno, but the product is sold worldwide. The company describes its amaretto as an infusion of “apricot kernel oil” with “absolute alcohol, burnt sugar, and the pure essence of seventeen selected herbs and fruits”; the product does not contain any almonds or other nuts. The amber liqueur is presented in an oblong glass decanter designed by a craftsman from Murano. Disaronno can be served on the rocks, in shots, as part of a cocktail or with a mixer such as Coke or apple, mango or cherry juice.
